Cards for Japan

Howdy peeps! how are you all doing this fine Friday?! hope all well and bombarded in crafting like me... i totally forgot that today was the last day of the summer program for DD1!! yikes! what happened to summer?!? the new school year is right around the corner! so yesterday i was doing some last minute treat bags for her group leaders (i'll share that later)... man oh man it just slipped my mind... so i do apologize this post is a tad bit late....

have a few cards to share with you today that i will be donating to Ben Franklin Crafts Make n Give event happening this Saturday, July 23rd as well as next Saturday, July 30th... BFC will have a table for you to visit to make a card to send to Japan in their efforts of sharing Aloha... this will take place at all Hawaii BFC locations and i will be at the Kahului, Maui store...

these cards were also made to sample an embossing folder demo i'll be doing too.... you likey?!?
click the photos to make it bigger.... you'll be able to see the embossing better.... the blue card features TGF's Geisha Anya and the Kanji is an old set from Stampin' up! the embossing folder used on this one is from Sizzix called garden flowers, a nice embossed border folder... the other card is simple with a strip of yuzen paper over white CS embossed using Cuttlebug swiss dots... i embossed washi paper, using a smaller embossing folder from the Sizzix birthday set, to show that you can emboss any type of paper... oops just noticed i forgot to add a sentiment... hehe
i used Stampin' up! elegant bouquet embossing folder on the yellow card and added some rhinestones to the mids... kanji on this is another retired SU! set... last card has the border embossing folder from Sizzix's HK spring set 2 that i sanded a bit to show some white... image is from Dandelion Designs cling Friends set and sentiment from TGF's Anya says...

very simple cards you can do in minutes.... some might be a little hesitant to use embossing folders not knowing the full capacity of it and they probably think no one will notice the image anyway, but with a little color, bling, sanding or even pretty papers and a cute stamp will help to bring out your embossed creations... use your imagination and put your creativity to work and you'll have loads of fun with embossing folders... i know i do and i LOVE mine!

alright, 2am and it's past my bedtime... LOL... gonna catch some zzzzs and hopefully i'll have time later today to finish up more cards and few other things like packing up everything and TRY-ing to go to bed at a decent time... hahahaha! long fun day tomorrow and i'm excited to see the other demos and make n' takes... probably won't post until Sunday if i'm not too tired so if nothing from me over the weekend i'll see yah back here on Monday! Have a FABULOUS weekend everyone!!

Halloween is coming! LOL

Happy Thursday everyone!!! one more day until the weekend! anywho, i must admit that i was not prepared to start on my Halloween goodies, but after seeing the wonderful creations by Cheryl and Teri, i just had to kick myself to start... so i did! Yay! this is just a sample of an idea i had... but to my disappointment, i don't have much Halloween stuff... oh well, that just means another trip to the craft store.. LOL... i have a funny feeling that my order of acetate paper won't come in on time so i had to come up with another option just in case... take a look!

i've been meaning to use my box shaker die from sizzix, and finally took it out of the plastic... like i said, i don't have much (i thought i did) so for now i had to make way with what i could find... i cut out little scraps of orange cardstock and ran it through my bigshot using the pumpkin and candy texture plate... managed to find this cute trick or treat stamp in my pile of stamps... no black or orange ribbon could be found so i used gray... need to put those colors on my list...

here's the inside when you open the flap... this darling stamp is from Mari and Me... intentionally bought it to make tags, but this is my other option if the acetate doesn't come in... i stamped the images on 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 white squares, gave it a little color and taped it to the inside of the box before i assembled it... i think it's kinda cute this way so i may just stick to it... the inside top flap is blank right now... as it gets closer (and i find more stuff) i'll place a little tag to say that it's from Krislen... it looks so plain right now, so i'm hoping to find more things to add on... i'm trying to tell myself to keep it simple... 1st graders don't really care what the outside looks like, they just want the goodies =D this is a big step up from my normal buy pretty baggies and fill it to the top so i'm glad i decided to start early... hehehe... thanks to the wonderful blogging sisters who started on theirs, i have motiviation to start on mine... so, with this being just a trial and error, come back to see a revised edition (not too soon now, i have to go shopping first, LOL)... Happy Stamping!!!

Trial and Error

Found sometime to squeeze in a new creation.... My 1 yr old's security blanket is her burp cloths... but it's so plain looking... unless you can find the print ones... so, because we are always misplacing it, i bought a whole bunch and keep it in a closet for when we need more... recently i've added strips of extra fabric to the cloths for color and kiddie prints like HK, princess and dora... easy right! decided tonight to run some fabric through my big shot... and Ta-Da! this was a "try" project so i didn't add much on... she took it away as soon as i was done ironing it...
Easy steps:
fabric
wunder under
sizzix die/machine
iron
1. iron the wunder under to the fabric
2. place on sizzix die and run through machine
3. peel backing off
4. place on material/fabric/etc
5. iron on
simple! just like the iron on appliques...
Happy Tuesday!!!

Mission accomplished!

My mission was to create 2 50th anniversary and 1 graduation card... the anniversary cards were a challenge for me because i didn't really have any embellishments... yikes!
on this card, i did a black and gold color combo... the card is black lined with white CS.... the background paper is from the Luxury Collection by DCWV... the 50th was cut using Boss-O and Curlz sizzix dies... after tearing up my craft room, i found an old pack of vellum quotes and found the "Happy Anniversary" vellum... i glued it on some gold ribbon i found in my old Christmas stack... i used gold origami paper to cut out the 50th and flowers on the corners...
I actually thought this card was simple... again, most of the embellishments and ribbon is from old stock that i found... the background CS is from the DCWV Luxury collection in a soft pink and gold....

Represnting Mililani High School, i needed to create a graduation card for my cousin who graduated this year... using scraps of CS and some shiny Christmas curling ribbon, i just glued it on the left side and cut off the excess... i used the Happy Graduation stamp from Mari and Me... the "Congrats" is from sizzix sizzlits phrases...
Took a trip to BF today... We just missed the make-n-takes... =( Joy from Joy of Crafting was a special guest at the Maui store today... doing demos with the big shot... didn't get to meet her because she was really busy with other customers... but bought another sizzix die that i can't wait to play with and found some stuff in the clearance section to try out... oh, and more ribbon... LOL... kids are taking their afternoon nap, so i hope i can sneak into my craft room and play with my new findings! Happy Saturday everyone!

i LOVE HK!!!

my in-law's bdays are coming up and i had to create a few cards... the CS i used on this card is from DCWV 12x12 sheets that i cut pieces from... the "smile" is from a rub-on (sorry can't remember which one) and the happy birthday stamp is from clear stamps... the rest of the designs is the actual CS that i embellished with some rhinestones... the card itself is a light orange CS lined with an off-white CS inside... (a lot of the CS is from long time ago... i've just started crafting again and bringing out all my old stock)

i absolutely love the way this one came out... simple yet girly... at first i didn't know how the color combo was going to look together until i actually put it together... and to my satisfaction, it came out all right! i just LOVE HK and had to use it on this card... again the green CS is from DCWV (the butterfly collection).. the card is yellow CS lined with an off-white CS inside... HK is from the Sizzix sizzlit (HK sitting w/bow)... the bubble is a punch i bought a while ago from one of the many Ben Franklin sales and the "happy birthday" is from clear stamps...
i have much more that i still need to take pictures of and post up... everything is still new to me! if you have a chance, let me know what you think! Happy Friday everyone and have an AWESOME weekend
