yesterday, DD1 had her school's May Day program... i was totally looking forward to it this year as it was the first i've got to attend... the last 2 years i wasn't able to.... but i would always make sure someone could go to represent our family... although we weren't able to see her dance (we were on the wrong side) the program (atleast up until DD1's performance) was very cute and everyone did an outstanding job!! but before we went to watch the program we went to check out the lei contest....
every year since DD1 started Kindergarten, i would enter her into the lei contest that takes place the day before May Day... the last 2 years she's taken 2nd place... but nonetheless, all that mattered was she got to make a lei, participate and just have fun!! this year i'm super excited and extremely thrilled that her creation was chosen for top honors of "OVERALL ARTIFICIAL GRAND PRIZE WINNER!!!
tadduh!!!! she's old enough now for me to teach her how to make my garland candy leis... and so that is what she made for this year's contest... she said she ran out of time and couldn't curl the ribbon, but i told her that's ok, the lei is still so VERY beautiful!!! believe me when i say i was tearing when i saw it... i was so so so so happy!! this Mama Bear was surely glowing with happiness!!! not that i don't every day, but yesterday was very special...
above pix is the Natural Overall Winner that is next to hers and a few other 1st place winners.... i thought she only won the grand prize, but actually she took 2 prizes... 1st place for her division (grades 1 & 2) in artificial and the Overall out of all artificial participants.... can someone say sweeeeet?!
